Tori Collicutt

—

Tori’s appreciation for small town living, rural landscapes, natural environments, and the wildlife around her comes from her upbringing in Stayner, Ontario. These interests inspired her pursuit of landscape architecture, where she is interested in how thoughtful planning and design can support communities while respecting the natural environments and wildlife that surround them.

Prior to joining pl.ural, Tori gained experience working with municipal and provincial organizations, developing an early understanding and appreciation of the planning and policies that shape communities. Her interest in the natural environment, plant identification and planting design, along with her hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, has allowed her to bring together her understanding of community planning with her interests in nature, planting, and wildlife.

Tori’s work at pl.ural spans policy research, preparation of rural CIPs encouraging redevelopment, revitalization, and economic growth, recreation facility planning, preparing background analysis, and being involved with community engagement. She enjoys finding the connections between planning, policy, and the built and natural environment, and using them to help communities make thoughtful decisions about their future.

Key projects for Tori include the Township of Southwold Parks and Trails Master Plan, various Community Improvement Plans (Township of Puslinch, Town of Minto, Town of Erin, and Township of Mapleton), an investment attraction project for Hastings County, and the Northumberland County Forest Trails Network Study.

Tori’s appreciates her work at pl.ural providing her opportunities in collaborating with communities, through site visits and public engagement, to better understand local priorities and help shape places that are both functional and environmentally responsible. Outside the studio, she enjoys hiking, spending time in nature with her dogs, birding, and exploring new provincial parks.
