WHAT WE DO
Recreation, Leisure & Sport
WHY RECREATION, LEISURE & SPORT?
Whether it be a soccer pitch, splash-pad, trails networks, community centre, ski hill, skatepark, or playground, “recreation, leisure and sport” is more than mere “facilities and equipment” – it has to respond to the needs of community members and their guests, understanding demographics, skills and abilities, respect site influences, and obviously, the available and/or attainable resources that host communities and operators have – especially for many who have typically large, and at times, disparate, municipal geographic boundaries.
Understanding the operational requirements for recreational and leisure amenities and specialized sport facilities requires anticipating demographic needs and user/land capacities, and analyzing these against industry-tracked trends, associated planning parameters, and physical design standards. We are celebrated for processes that engage community, for promoting strategies that optimize capital investment, adapts and promotes ease of maintenance, that creates quality community and guest services, and provides for employee safety and satisfaction.
We create great places to explore, socialize, and play...

WHY US?
Our office is made up of individuals, who are trained as planners and designers, and who are avid recreationalists too. While several are into team-sport, water-sport, snow-sport and/or equestrian passions, the rest of us just want to design great facilities for communities – we are interested and qualified in almost anything recreational or leisure service-minded, whether serving an active or passive user. Through our work, we have inspired all scales of recreation (parks, waterfronts, trails, mountains) and sport (fields, ball diamonds, off-road bike, ski) including those found in many municipalities across Ontario, have been included in great transformations with iconic facilities like Canada Olympic Park (Calgary), which now serves thousands of children, newcomers, adaptive sport athletes and others, and have even been involved in design planning dozens of snow-sport venues worldwide.
