Dave DeBono

—

Dave was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, and while he grew up in a suburban environment, he really has a deep affinity for the outdoors, especially those found in rural landscapes. Dave is also an avid constructor who relishes in the satisfaction of building and creating for others. These interests inspired his pursuit of landscape architecture, where he combines his appreciation for nature and outdoor recreation with a practical approach in how landscapes are designed, built, and experienced.

Prior to joining pl.ural, Dave gained hands-on experience through independent design-build projects, where he developed a strong understanding of landscape construction, materials and estimating, and implementation. This experience provides him with a valuable perspective on the relationship between design and construction, allowing him to consider the technical details, costs, and processes required to bring a vision to life.

Dave’s work at pl.ural has included park design, cemetery planning, construction documentation, tender packages, technical drawings, and graphic communication. He particularly enjoys the construction side of landscape architecture, from developing detailed drawings and attending site progress meetings to seeing spaces transform from initial concepts into completed landscapes.

Key projects for Dave include the Victoria Manor Long-term Home Landscape Restoration in Lindsay, St. Marys Cemetery Master Plan, and Kincardine’s Victoria Park Design.

Dave’s time at pl.ural has provided opportunities to meet and speak with clients and their communities, gaining a better understanding of what makes each place unique, and assisting in finding workable solutions to often complex problems. Outside of work, Dave loves skiing, mountain biking, and camping. He is also a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters (OFAH), where he continues to pursue his passion for outdoor recreation and conservation.
