Alex Feenstra

Born and raised in Guelph, ON, Alex joined pl.ural while completing her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph. As a member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA), she combines her multidisciplinary design background with a passion for creating landscapes that support human connection, environmental education, species diversity, and habitat.

Prior to pursing landscape architecture, Alex studied Packaging and Graphic Design at Humber College, where she developed skills in visual communication, conceptual development, and marketing. This foundation has provided her a unique perspective in community design and planning. Alex has also gained hands-on experience working as part of a landscaping team, deepening her understanding of creating and caring for outdoor spaces from an ecological perspective.

Alex’s work at pl.ural spans parks and public spaces, waterfronts, streetscapes, cemeteries, and community planning projects. She enjoys creating interpretive landscapes that foster environmental awareness and connect people with their surroundings, whether through immersive site experiences, ecological design, or highlighting the unique cultural and natural features of a place.

Notable projects for Alex include the Huron-Kinloss Parks and Trails Redevelopment Plan, Kawartha Lakes Parks Master Plan, and Northumberland County Forest Trails Network Study.

One of Alex’s favourite aspects of working at pl.ural is getting outdoors to explore new parks, trails, and natural spaces, bringing firsthand experiences and observations back into her design work. Outside of work, Alex takes care of her indoor and outdoor vegetable gardens and has grown a passion for crafting pottery on the wheel.
